Market Overview (August 23th –August 27th)
The main Bulgarian index SOFIX increased by 0.68% this week, up to 569.80 points. The broad index BGBX40 increased by 0.63% to 128.52 points. BGREIT also increased this trading week to 164.75 points, up by 0.33%.
Corporate News
Monbat AD (MONB) released its financial results for the first half calendar year of 2021. The revenue of the group has increased by 25% YoY to BGN 202,078mln. On the other side, for the same period, the operating expenses have decreased, resulting in 32.5% growth in the EBITDA. The stock has been among the top gainers of the week with 3.23% growth.
M+S Hydraulic AD (MSH) reports growth of 32.66% YoY in the revenue for the second quarter of 2021. The Operating Income has increased by 56%, representing an Operating Margin of 14.5%.
Neochim AD (NEOH) published the financial statements for Q2. The operating revenue grew by 5.4% to BGN 145.7mln. However, due to a decrease in the one-off incomes and growth in raw material expenses, the company’s net income decreased by 6.8% YoY.
Economic News
Producer Prices in Bulgaria grew 13% YoY in June, which comes stable compared to last month’s change but way above the forecasted number of 9.5%. Furthermore, the Business Confidence decreased to 19.9 in July, compared to 21.3 a month ago. This is due to more reserved industrial entrepreneurs’ assessments and expectations about the business situation of the enterprises. Finally, the Tourist Arrivals in July was 1,234,507, representing an increase of 75% from a month ago.
Active COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria are on an increasing trend with a 7-day MA of 1,440 cases. The active cases at the end of the week are 27,333. The total number of fully vaccinated people so far is 1,090mln, which is 15.5% of the population in Bulgaria.
