Market Overview (23 Sept – 27 Sept)
The main Bulgarian index SOFIX decreased this week by 0.17% to 855.75 points. The broad index BGBX40 increased this week by 0.37% to 168.94 points and BGREIT increased this week to 206.21 points, up by 0.90%.
Corporate News
Telelink Business Services (TBS) – presented their consolidated performance for H1. There is a clear upside trend in revenues, which increases by 22% YoY to BGN 37.2mln. Profitability, however, was hurt due to the acquisition of 7IT. The public sector increases in importance as it grew by over 18% and remained responsible for half the revenues they collect. Additionally, enterprises solutions grew by 56% to constitute 27% of the revenues. Geographically, Bulgaria helped push the growth by growing 30% and comprising 66% of sales. The importance of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Slovenia has decreased over the last 2 years as their share has dropped from 40% to 19%. A possible source for rising opportunities seems to be Croatia, which has grown from BGN 0.5mln revenues to BGN 3.1mln.
Wiser Technology / Bianor (BNR) announced they were admitted to BGTR30 index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. The index includes 30 companies with the largest market capitalization.
Telematic Interactive (TIB) announced that they had signed an agreement for marketing services with MBS Trade AD for the duration of the 2024/2025 football season or until 31.05.2025 for the amount of BGN 1.5mln.
Sopharma (SFA) announced that it is calling a General Shareholder Meeting on 25/10/2024 from 11am on 5 Lachesar Stanchev Str, Base floor, Sopharma Business Towers, Sopharma Event Center. Main points include accepting the financials of H1, approval for the distribution of a 6 month dividend from the profit of BGN 0.075 per share (2.13% current dividend yield). Additionally, a share buyback decision will be voted under the following conditions: not more than 3% for each calendar year, not longer than 18 months, minimum price – nominal value of 1 share, maximum price – BGN 7.
Economic News
- Producer prices in Bulgaria edged up by 1.5% year-on-year in August 2024, following a 1.4% rise in the previous month. This marked the second consecutive month of growth in producer prices, as prices sharply rebounded for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (7.7% vs -3.1% in July). Moreover, costs increased faster for mining & quarrying (9.1% vs 8.9%). Meanwhile, prices tumbled for manufacturing (-0.7% vs 2.3%). On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.4%, easing from a 2.2% gain in the preceding period.
- The number of tourist arrivals in Bulgaria grew by 2.8% year-on-year to 2.13 million in August 2024, following a 3.4% rise in the previous month. The majority of visits to Bulgaria were for holiday & recreation purposes (52.1% of total visits), followed by other purposes (43.0%) and professional trips (4.9%). EU residents accounted for 55.8% of total trips, with Romania (30.6%) being the largest contributor, followed by Germany (20.6%). Meanwhile, arrivals from other European countries accounted for 34.9%, mainly coming from Turkey (40.6%).
