Market Overview (16 September – 20 September)
The main Bulgarian index SOFIX decreased this week by 1.01% to 857.19 points. The broad index BGBX40 decreased this week by 0.58% to 168.32 points and BGREIT increased this week to 204.38 points, up by 0.81%.
Corporate News
Stara Planina Hold (SPH) – announced that their consolidated sales for the first eight months reached BGN 176mln or a 33.65% YoY decrease. Their projections for the 9 months are sales of BGN 196mln or a 33.18% YoY decrease. Recall that the projections in Q4 2023 were for sales drops in 2024 of 22% to 28% due to the then expected drop in materials prices and the globally worsening economic situation. This indicates that the major companies in Stara Planina Hold – M&S Hydraulic and Hydraulic Elements and Systems – are possibly having harder time realizing the sales they had expected.
Trace Group (T57) announced a new signed contract of their JV where they are 50% owner for the reconstruction of 16km road for a total amount of BGN 32.6mln (EUR 16.7mln). Additionally, they signed a contract for the the reconstruction of a 6km road project in Serbia for RSD 600mln (EUR 5.1mln).
Telematic Interactive (TIB) announced that it is raising the capital of its subsidiary CT Interactive by BGN 2.25mln, which will be used to develop its operations.
Sopharma (SFA) announced that the sales for the 8 months are down by 7%, due to the exports decline of 15%, which was not compensated by the local sales growth of 8%.
Wiser Technologies / Bianor (BNR) – announced that they signed an agreement with the European Defense Agency (EDA) in a consortium lead by INDRA including also Leonardo and other defense companies from Austria, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Netherlands and Portugal. The project European Command and Control System E2C is for a period of 24 months for a total amount of EUR 47mln. This leverages Bianor’s existing cooperation with clients, such as Airbus, INDRA, Leonardo, Bosch, AT&T and technological leaders such as IBM, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, IAV, SAP, McKinsey Digital and E&Y Digital. It shows the capabilities and the recognition of the company to produce solutions needed at the highest level.
Additionally, as of 16.09.2024 the company started trading on the Premium Segment of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
Telelink Business Services (TBS) – announced that a webinar will be held on 26.09.2024 from 4pm EET (GMT +3) where they will present their consolidated results. The webinar can be attended at TBS780 Email Marketing – (activehosted.com)
BREF (BREF) – announced a new tenant agreement with the Institute for Computer Sciences (INSAIT) of Sofia University at their Synergy Tower location. The agreement is for 1,332.40 sqm and for 5 years. With that, the total occupation of Synergy Tower stands at 64.68%.
Economic News
The current account surplus widened to €836.6 mln in July from €338.1 mln last year, marking the highest surplus since July 2017, as primary income switched to a surplus (€64 mln vs €-579 mln in July 2023). Meanwhile, surplus shrank slightly for secondary income (€75 million vs €97 million) and services account (€937 million vs €1,008 million), and deficit widened for goods account (€-239 million vs €-188 million).
